PRIME MINISTER MR DAVID CAMERON

David Cameron became Prime Minister in May 2010. He is the Leader of the Conservative Party and was the Leader of the Official Opposition before becoming Prime Minister.

Mr. Cameron was educated at Eton before going to Brasenose College, Oxford, where he took a 1st Class BA in Philosophy, Politics and Economics. On leaving Oxford, he joined the Conservative Research Department. From 1994-2001, he was Director of Corporate Affairs for Carlton Communications – a company that owns a number of TV and radio stations, including ITV.

Mr. Cameron entered Parliament in 2001. He served on the Home Affairs Select Committee from 2001 to 2004 and on the Modernisation Committee of the House of Commons in 2003. He rose within the Conservative Party under then-leader Michael Howard, eventually being made head of policy coordination. He served as shadow Education Secretary after the 2005 election and completed his rise by winning the leadership at the end of 2005.
